Olive oil hair treatment?

I've looked up recipes of it to put in hair and all of them consist of other ingredients other than olive oil and say that you need to keep it in a dark place for 24 hours, shake it in a bottle to get it saturated, blah blah etc.. But i was watching the style channel and how they do it and all they did was pour olive oil into their hair and said it would work just like that without anything else, is that true? Also, how long do you need to keep it in your hair?

Thanks muchOlive oil hair treatment?
Hi, I put olive oil in my hair you don't need to add anything to it. You can leave it in for as little as 15 minutes or as long as 24 hours. Personally I try to leave mine in at least over night.

I also put neem oil, henna and cocount oil in my hair sometimes too. My hair is really pretty, strong and shiny. I'll give you a link to the product I use. But to answer you question yes just oil oil over night will be fine in your hair.Olive oil hair treatment?
if u put oil in your hands, how is that. In hair also it is simple. No need to make it complicated.

these vegetable oils are exceptions to other fatty foods in that they contain unsaturated fatty acids. These fatty acids are very effective in reducing the fats and the cholesterol present in the blood stream. They are thus ';protective'; against the harmful effects upon the arteries of other fats, such as contained in butter, milk, eggs, and cream.Olive oil and cholesterol? ?

It is a healthier alternative to mayonnaise and many of the other dressings.Olive oil on salads...why?
Tastes good...
Why not? It tastes delicious, and is far healthier than some chemical laden salad dressing. You can add fresh herbs, a squeeze of lemon, seasonings, whatever. Its healthy, and tasty.
Oil is used to emulsify the vinegar, citrus juice and seasonings and help them stick to the salad greens.

  • Olive oil as ear drops?

my doctor suggested to use olive oil first ( before he syringes the ears) how do i do it?

a couple drops in each ear and cover with cotton wool balls?

im gonna do it before bed time and its for my 4yr old child.

thanks for ur help.Olive oil as ear drops?
warm the olive oil very slightly, pour in with a teaspoon - just a few drops, lay him on his side for ten mins on your lap and rub under his earlobe - it should be a very pleasant sensation for him if your relax and cuddle him. turn him over and do the other ear. tell him he won't be able to hear properly for a little bit - see if he can lay still and watch TV whilst you do it.Olive oil as ear drops?
How to insert olive oil drops into the ear canal

    1. Insert the closed glass dropper bottle containing the oil into a cup of warm water for two minutes. Dry the container and insert one-drop of oil onto your hand to ensure that it is not too hot. If you feel the oil is too hot wait for it to cool prior to commencing. The correct temperature of the oil should be 37掳C. Alternatively, for the oil to reach body temperature (37掳C) place the bottle in a pocket of your clothing currently being worn for 20 to 30 minutes.

    2. Holding the prepared dropper bottle lie on a bed with the affected ear towards the ceiling.

    3. With one hand pull the top of your ear upwards and outwards to straighten the ear canal.

    4. Placing the filled dropper part of the bottle of oil over the entrance to your ear canal and squeeze the dropper until one drop (or the amount specified by your nurse) is instilled. Maintain that position for five minutes. Wipe the excess drops that pool outside the ear when you sit up. Do not insert cotton wool into the entrance of the ear canal as this will absorb the drops.

    5. If the drops are to be inserted into both ears, repeat steps two to four on the opposite side.

    hope it helps.
Olive oil or similar (over the counter products) must be used 2 weeks prior to ear syringing as it softens the wax. Do not use cotton wool in the ear following the insertion of the oil as it will just soak it up! Simply put a few drops in one ear using a dropper- you can get these from the pharmacist for a couple of pounds (a teaspoon will not do the job), get your child to lay on their side for a few minutes the do the opposite ear. You could read him/her a book during the moments of waiting just so they do not get bored :-)

It is important that this is done daily as the doctor/nurse may not be able to syringe your child's ears if the wax remains hard.

    Good luck x
Yes 2 drops is fine for a child. Just tilt their head and keep it tilted for a few minutes after you put it in. Use some cotton balls to hold over the ear with tape to hold it in place. The oil will drip out otherwise.

They like you to put oil in there for 2 weeks...silly if you ask me
the thinking these days is a couple of drops in each lug 2 x a day for a fortnight that should disperse the wax completely,

I was told to use cold olive oil as you cannot gauge the temperature properly and could cause further damage to your ear if to warm
I use baby oil, i just drop 3 drops in each ear. I have a lot wax build up so it helps a lot.

    It kinda tickles/stings a little.

make sure you have a wash cloth with your child, especially if he'shes going to bed afterwards, the wax will drip out.
warm it up a bit, put the bottle in a bowl of hot water to do this, then just as you said, a couple of drops in each ear then put cotton wool in
It will soften the wax before syringing.
go to the chemist and buy there olive oil and small syringe to put it down, works a treat
My mum used to use warm olive oil. It just dissolves the wax away.
thats how you do it yes, warm it slightly if you can, works faster

Olive oil doesnt helps me. pleas tell some gud idea..?

i'm using olive oil for my hair. but it doesnt make my hair soft. please suggest me to make my hair soft..

thankuOlive oil doesnt helps me. pleas tell some gud idea..?
What can be done to keep the hair softer for longer?

Maintaining a soft head of hair is a problem we all face. It鈥檚 one of those unfortunate and inevitable realities that come along with wearing a hair replacement system. But there are a few tips you might find helpful.

Keeping your hair replacement system from feeling like straw is just as much about what you don鈥檛 do as it is about what you do, do.

Don't Do's (or at least try not do to):

    * Excessive shampooing

    * Constant swimming and exposure to chlorine

    * Blow drying your hair

    Do Do's (if possible):

    * More conditioning, especially using leave-in conditioners

    * Use hair care products that contain sunscreen

    * Air dry your hairOlive oil doesnt helps me. pleas tell some gud idea..?
Eggs have protien and vitamin E, so you could add vitamin E to your diet for internal conditioning and hair/nail growth. Fish oil is good too, (capsules).

Other than that there are good suggestions here. I've heard beer is good for the hair as well! So, eggs and beer, Cheers!
    Eggs are fantastic.

Break about 8 open, beat them lightly, and let your hair soak in it for a few hours.

    Then wash your hair.

Should make it softer, stronger and shinier.
It could be that you live in a hard water area - after a final rinse (under the shower?) try another rinse in a bowl of luke-warm water to which you have added a tablespoon of white vinegar. Combats the alkaline water.
    try this

    hope it helps
Well if Olive Oil was no help then Youl have to eat ur spinach lol ;-)

Seriously though, a good healthy diet will improve your hair quality.
olive oil is really good for hair. but if it is not working in your case then you can use this one:

use one cup coconut oil, half cup castor oil , and one cup olive oil.

mix them well and apply as usual to your hair

massage with your fingers and leave them overnight and wash them next morning. use a good conditioner and u will have great hair as well.

    Olive oil for frizzy hair?

Some body suggested olive oil to me once and i tried it but im not sure if i did it rite cos it came out exactlyu the same - poofy and frizzy. Is there a certain way to apply it? Does it make any difference if I do it hot?

    Thanx!Olive oil for frizzy hair?
Did you warm it up? Olive oil treatments are just a substitute for hot oil treatments. You still have to warm the oil up before putting it on your hair... or sit under a dryer. The heat is what helps your hair retain the moisture. Just plain old olive oil probably wouldn't do much.... and lastly, if your hair is really frizzy, it's probably because you need to trim off old, dry, dead ends.Olive oil for frizzy hair?
YES!! depending on length/thickness of your hair use enough to saturate it....rub in with fingers tips...then wrap in a warm towel..leave on up to 15 min ..then shampoo and condition as usual. Leaves hair soft and shiny..repeat once weekly if ur hair is really frizzy..like mine!!
make sure its rele hot and that you put it on rite away

    Olive oil applied to hair?

I heard that putting extra virgin olive oil on your hair about 1/2-1 hour before showering can help to keep hair healthy and shiny. After researching it on the internet, I'm still skeptical.

    1. Does this work? :P

    if so...

    2. How long before showering should I apply it?

    3. How much and for how long?

    4. Will it come off easily (water and oil don't mix??)

    5. Will it have any side effects, or leave you hair looking greasy?

    6. Should I use conditioner the same day?Olive oil applied to hair?
Whether your hair gets oily from will really depend on your hair type. there are coarse hair types that will not get oily after using oils because their hair needs the moisture because it's so dry. I sometimes put a little coconut oil in my hair right before I take a warm shower and rinse my hair while in the shower and I was satisfied with the results that I'd do it again. Sorry, I haven't done it in a few months so I don't remember the exact results, I just noticed that it did make my hair better and more moisturized. I don't wash it out.

If you have hair that's susceptible to oiliness then using just a very small amount, rinsing while in the shower and shampooing/conditioning might get it out. You might have to shampoo more than once depending on the shampoo you use.Olive oil applied to hair?
    yes it does work

apply it for atleats 2 hours before showering

apply it to your scalp and the ends of your hair so it will prevent split ends

    it will come off easily

it does have sideeffects just for a day or two

do not use conditioner on the same day
Hi, I've done this......I found it difficult to get the oil from my hair. Perhaps I did not do something correctly?? I have used a couple tablespoons of Mayo before and I think it works well. Some people suggest rinsing with a teaspoon of vinegar in a cup of water. Good Luck.....Mo
I know it is good for your body. But, I my self never used it on my hair. Why don't you just test a little bit of your hair with the olive oil and first see how that turns out.

Olive oil in a deep frier?

can it be used in a deep fat frier and if so how many times can it be fried b4 it needs changingOlive oil in a deep frier?
Olive oil is a dressing oil - NOT a cooking oil ! ! !Olive oil in a deep frier?
Yes you can certainly use it in a deep fryer just like any other oil that has a high smoke point. In fact, fried chicken and some other foods actually have a unique taste when fried in olive oil.

Olive oil, like all other oils, is cooked when it gets heated, and this leads to chemical changes in the oil itself. Some molecules begin to clump together, which is why used oil tends to seem slightly thicker than fresh. The oil molecules can also break down, creating a rancid smell and taste. It can change color and start to take on characteristics of the food that is cooked in it. All of these things are typical with only one use in a deep fryer.

Bottom line, you can only expect to get one use out of olive oil. You might be able to get a second use if didn鈥檛 heat the oil to too high of a temperature and you strain out all of the solids that might have accumulated during cooking. However, this isn鈥檛 likely and you should consider replacing the oil after use, as the changes that I described above can lead to oil that has a nasty smell and taste. Used oil also has a lower smoke point, which means that the temperature at which oil vapors can spontaneously ignite is lower than it was when the oil was fresh. I鈥檝e never encountered this yet, but the higher risk of fire is always there.

i know that we should not over heat oil olives because it turns to some bad chemicals that is affect our health.

doctors always recommend not to fry food but if u want use vegetable oil.

and i think it should not b used for more than 2 times. it also depends on the clearness of the oil after u use it.
Although the above answerer says it is not good to fry in, I have found small batches of fried veggies, like squash and okra to be marvelous cooked in olive oil.

I also fry my breakfast eggs in it. But have never done it in a deep fryer. It might be a bit expensive.
No I would not use olive oil in a deep fat fryer.

Olive oil is best used unheated as it's chemical properties change when heated, which loses it's natural goodness.

It also doesn't reach high temperatures like other oils do when frying so is ineffective.

You can't really fry ising olive oil!

Why not try vegetable oil or sunflower oil?

The colour will change it goes kinda brown thats when it needs changing usually about 4 uses but sometimes more!
olive oil really isnt the best oil for deep frying. Peanut oil is what you want. You are reuse peanut oil up 3 times and it does not make your food taste oil, it really keeps the food in tact
no not at all ,don't do it.
I deep fry in olive oil. It never needs changing, it doesn't cloud like vegetable oil.

Simply pour the oil through a sieve and use it again and again, and add more to it as needed.

Olive oil is better for deep frying some things as it has a better flavour and it reaches a higher temperature, and has a higher flash point than vegetable oil, and is therefore less likely to catch fire.

    Olive oil treatment?

so my hair tends to get frizzy and i want it to be sleek and shiny and healthy. ive tried all kinds of shampoos and i want to turn to natural stuff to help me out. ive heard that olive oil is a great conditioner but how do i apply it? how long do i leave it in for? do i shampoo to get it out? i just need all around help with steps and what to do and stuff. help?Olive oil treatment?
Well I've never actually used olive oil,BUT I have use mayonnaise. It works really well.It has alot of protein and adds great shine!I would say apply in the same way.First shampoo you hair as usual, rinse with warm water,(this opens the hair follicle so it can absorb more of the conditioner),apply mayonnaise or olive oil like you would any conditioner.Mayonnaise is more like a conditioning pack.Once all hair is covered cover your hair with disposable shower cap and let set for 15-20 minutes.(The cap helps to hold in your body heat which helps the hair to absorb the nutrients)Rinse hair with warm water. If it feels to oily use a light shampoo(ex.baby shampoo) Rinse

Ta Da softer shinier hair for a fraction of the cost!Olive oil treatment?
luke warm olive oil will help u grow hair and u can apply it for 1/2 an hr and then wash it off with shampoo else ur hair will be sticky and become dirty..then u will start losing a lot of hair...so keep scalp clean and nutritious.....
you just put in you damp hair like shampoo and leave it for 30 minutes(probably have it up so your back and stuff dont get all oily, then you rinse. i dont think you use shampoo but you can use a little just so it doesnt fell oily!
olive oil is really good you should 1.apply to hair and then put on a thin plastic shower cap (for best results sit under a hair dryer) 2. leave it on for about 8-10 minutes 3. wash with a light shampoo and you should see adifference

    Olive oil for skin care?

What do you think of using olive oil topically as a skin treatment instead of lotion??Olive oil for skin care?
Don't see anything wrong with it at all. I actually use it on my scalp, or sometimes mix it w/ my conditioner.

I'm not sure how you will apply it directly to your skin, because you wouldn't want to be greasy all day. But I know you can mix it in with your body butter etc.

I think it will do wonders for your skin. Use very little though, so that you won't walk around shiny all day. lol

That's truly a natural alternative to the drugstore lotions. :)Olive oil for skin care?
    highly inflammable!!!
I had just recommended this to another question! I use nothing but Extra Virgin Olive Oil! I thought it would give me an oily face but it doesn't. It's really quite remarkable how the skin just drinks it in. My skin tone is now even, my tiny lines have disappeared and best of all, my face isn't dry and tight any more. The trick is to use just a few drops. A little goes a long way.

I highly recommend trying it. You will become a loyal user!

Also, once a week I use Welleda Rose Oil. This stuff is like little drops of gold! I just dab a tiny bit around my eyes and it's like watching my skin go back to when I was a teenager!

People have been using natural oils for centuries! There is a good reason for that!
umm I used it on my butt recently and got 3 huge pimples :P

switched over to coconut oil and shea butter. WAY BETTER.
I gave up petro-chem lotions and such a long time ago. My favorite light oil for skin care is sunflower because of the natural vitamin e content. However, expeller pressed extra-virgin olive oil has no chemical residues and many of my non-petrol friends prefer olive oil over sunflower.

Your skin will look a lot better being fed food, rather than toxic petro-chemicals. Not only that, but you will be avoiding chemicals that are absorbed through your skin and wreak havoc on your internal organs - so you'll feel better and have less risks for skin cancer, cancer of other organs, liver diseases, kidney disorders, neurological disorders and more.

The cosmetic industry in the United States is a national scandal. The ingredients are known toxins, carcinogens, allergens and worse. I'm happy to see another person moving to a more healthy lifestyle.

When switching to natural, remember that a tiny bit goes a long way. Put the oils on your skin for about 10-15 minutes. Most of it will be sucked right into your cells - improving their health and improving cell functions. Whatever has not been absorbed, just rub off with a nice cotton cloth. Your skin will NOT look greasy - but will have healthy glow from the very happy, well-fed cells.

If you treat your hair with olive oil...?

is it greasy afterwards? even if you wash it with shampoo. will it smell? because i have to go to school tomorrow and i don't want greasy smelly hair.If you treat your hair with olive oil...?
    Hi,

If you wash your hair thoroughly after you apply the olive oil, it won't be greasy. I massage the oil into my hair and scalp and then cover it with a shower cap and leave it for at least 30 minutes. I wash it twice afterward, but I use a shampoo bar or even just a natural soap bar and rinse my hair with diluted apple cider vinegar. My hair is very shiny and healthy. There is more info about using olive oil at www.amazingoliveoil.comIf you treat your hair with olive oil...?
No, its not greasy at all. Actually its really good for your hair. I apply it to my daughters hair and it makes it grow. If you dont want it to smell like olive oil, you can mix it with scented hair grease or whatever you use on your hair.

What do you expect if olive oil is added into the soap formulation (coconut oil+olive oil)?

The additional olive oil would make the soap softer, with less lather. With less lather, the soap would not dry the skin as much.

Coconut oil is a saturated fat that makes a hard soap with lots of lather.

Olive oil is an unsaturated fat that makes a soft soap with little lather.

The more lather, the drier the soap makes the skin.

For more information on soap making, see:

http://www.colebrothers.com/soap/oils.ht鈥?/a>What do you expect if olive oil is added into the soap formulation (coconut oil+olive oil)?
any type of oil will still make the soap soap. soap works by hooking onto the non-polar grease and such on plates and bonds with it to make a molecule with a polar end and non-polar end. the substance then can bond with water and co down the drain. as long as the oil is somewhat fat based, the soap should still do what it is supposed to do. there may a difference to the degree of effectiveness, but it should still be soap if made correctly.

Many of the over the counter items, including possibly olive oil, will clog your hair folicle.

Best thing you can do is 1) don't smoke. This is the worst thing you can do for your hair. 2) go to a salon and have a professional conditioning treatment done - go once a month for 3 months...then every six months after that. This will help a lot.

Also, if you flat-iron your hair it will close the hair folicles and make your hair slicker. It can be a curling iron but I recommend the flat iron. Just be careful not to use to much heat or heat it up too much. You might also ask a hair stylist to help you with this until you get the hang of it.

NO MATTER WHAT U PUT IN YOUR HAIR ITS NOT GONNA BE RIGHT UNLESS YOU HAVE THE RIGHT FLAT IRON.HAVE YOU TRIED THAT FLAT IRON (MAXIUS MAXIGLIDE) IT WILL GET THE FRIZZIES OUT FOR SURE I PROMISE YOU.EVEN IF YOU DONT USE OLIVE OIL OR ANYTHING ELSE.IT DOES COST BUT IT WORKS!
use vo5 defrizz spray its excellent. i used to have frizzy hair days, now i just spritz with the vo5 spray and voilah, pretty, shiny hair. it also makes your hair soft to touch aswell.
I love the Ojon product line. It has made my hair look great and feel light and smooth. Good luck..
i use 'fudge' hair serum. Small bottle costs about 20 bucks but u only need a small amount. (size of 10 cent piece). Works really well!!!

Whats better for hair mayonnaise or olive oil???

and which one make the hair smoother and shine better than the other??Whats better for hair mayonnaise or olive oil???
While you're at it why don't you throw in some peppercorn ranchWhats better for hair mayonnaise or olive oil???
Use apple cider vinegar - it's much better than either - it takes out all the crap in your hair and you won't believe how soft, smooth and shiny it is.

Just take a cup in the shower with you and after you shampoo and condition, pour this over your hair (don't get it in your eyes it will hurt) and let it sit a minute, then rinse and get out.

You will love it - I do it twice a month - but if you have hard water do it more often!

PS, do it on the weekend cause you will smell like vinegar that day.

The beer works the same way - I used to use that once a week but found the vinegar worked better.
a little little bi tof olive oil.to much makes it greasy. beer also works but not as well and mayonase will leave your hair with a moldy milk smell and makes it greasy at the roots. but it works.....id deffinitaly go with olive oil.
Actually beer does. Someone got a little crazy at a party and dumped beer on my head, and it was soft and shiny for about a month.
neither... they will just coat the outside of the hair and make it look shiney but your hair doesnt get anything out of it.
Olive oil is better but if you want nice soft shiny hair wash it with flat beer.
olive oil but also try avocados or bannanas
i say mayo does. my friend used olive oil and it just made it greasey.
Olive oil, aslo beer makes your hair shiny

    Ear ache and olive oil?

when they say that you should pour some olive oil into your ear when you have earache...do they actually mean the olive oil you use to cook with?

just seems a bit strange to put cooking oil in your ear , no?

whats the reason?Ear ache and olive oil?
Olive oil softens the wax. That may be sufficient to ease the ache, but it is also advised to soften the wax before you have it syringed, and olive oil is a very cheap, convenient and simple way to do just that.

Other vegetable oils have the same effect, but olive oil is a bit more pleasant than soya or sunflower oil.

Btw., Olive oil is not simply cooking oil, it is also a food dressing, but the virgin olive oil has a better flavour when it matters. The cheaper non-virgin oil is quite adequate for softening earwax.Ear ache and olive oil?
Yes - the olive oil you cook with.

It is very gentle %26amp; generally very pure. It will not harm and can get into your ear and loosen up any wax.

Olive is also a mild disinfectant (lucky they don;t taste like most of the disinfectants I know about!!!) so it can help with any infection.
you should not put anything in your ear , unless you have been advised to do so by a doctor. Warm camphorated oil, rubbed behind the ear can cause relief, but ear trouble should always be checked by your G.P.
yes, thats right. is recommended by practise nurses. i have recently used it to clear wax, worked a treat. no need for ear syringing.
Extra virgin sunflower olive oil does the trick-it helps clear the wax from a blocked ear OR u can buy ear-drops from any chemist but both serve the same purpose.
Yes they do mean olive oil but it needs to be clean and warm. The warm oil is supposed to melt the wax.
Its if you've got a build up of wax its supposed to loosen it, personally I wouldn't.
yes but warmed slightly , it does alieviate the aching ,
Yes, cooking olive oil..its a lubricant.

But best if you can persuade your doctor to syrengine your ears!
    ear acne? woah!

    just try keeping clean instead!

I use figaro olive oil 4 three months and it causes to hair fall should i continue or stop? ?

olive oil is supposed to stop hair from falling.

go see your dermatologist. they'll help you with that problem.I use figaro olive oil 4 three months and it causes to hair fall should i continue or stop? ?
Well I remember using that, and as a matter of a fact it made my hair look greasy and ugly as well as made my hair fall out in strands. I just stopped and my hair returned to normal. So yes, stopping would be the best thing. My hairdresser said not to use olive oil, but coconut oil. It helps to make your hair more shiny and healthy. No hair loss, damage or anything. It really helped me.I use figaro olive oil 4 three months and it causes to hair fall should i continue or stop? ?
if you are rubbing it on your scalp, then I wouldn't be surprised. You are clogging your hair follicles. The hair probably isn't getting the proper nutrients and circulation it needs to be healthy.

use the olive oil on the ends of your hair only.
    stooooooooooooooooooooooooooop
    it should stop

Can i apply olive oil for ma hair?????????

Yes you can. It is the best natural deep hair conditioner. Massage it onto your scalp and then onto the rest of your hair. Don't forget to use Extra Virgin Oil since that is the best. Can i apply olive oil for ma hair?????????
If you have really dry brittle hair. Olive oil is great for the hair. But I would suggest using a Olive oil Shampoo and conditioner in your hair rather then just plain olive oil, becasue you dont' want to weigh down your hair. I would suggest going to your local sally beauty supply store in your area. the staff there will help you with many great products they have with olive oil in it. right now there is one called proclaim olive oil shampoo and condition on sale there this month. its a great shampoo and will help you . hope this helped. you can go to sallybeauty.com to check us out.Can i apply olive oil for ma hair?????????
a great way to do it is to apply a few tablespoons to clean damp hair and cover with plastic (a grocery bag will do the trick in a pinch). wet a small hand size towel and put it in the microwave for 30 second intervals. wrap it around your plastic wrapped head. you can also just heat the oil in the microwave but it can heat unevenly and be really hot.
i think it was not better for your hair .u have to use cow dung two time in a day .It make your hair silky %26amp; shiny .Don't mind i m just joking .olive oil is good for your hair .now keep smiling.
yes but rinse ur hair after dat. can b a good condition, use it once a week, try to mix it with hot cocnut oil too, leave it about an hour or even a nite, then rinse well.
yea its good for your hair

My mom told me to use olive oil for my ear?!?!?

WTF my ear stinks and every thing and my mom told me to use olive oil...ewwww does it really help??? i was like eww that olive oil and she got mad so i listen to her and she put some in my ear...ewww.... I AM SERIOUS!!1My mom told me to use olive oil for my ear?!?!?
Olive oil doesn't posess any healing or cleansing property. For your ears infections or cleansing the best and safest product is hydrogen peroxide found at any pharmacy. The oil could make the wax softer but eventually the residues of oil will keep catching dust from the air and you will end right at the beginning of the problem. My mom told me to use olive oil for my ear?!?!?
My mother used to make me use castor (? is that right? It was the ugly looking whie/grey stuff) oil in my ear when I was little.

It generally only made things worse and was disgusting. In someways the ear infection doesn't seem as bad as the prospect of the oil!
Oil soothes the ear canal. You could also find an oil mix that also has aromatherapy of eucalyptus etc at GNC or Natural food stores. It is sold near the ';ear candles';. Not gross really...better than a smelly ear. If you do use olive oil make sure it is fresh and extra virgin and not rancid.
Worked for me a couple of times.
worked for me when i had ear aches. Have a bit more of an open mind.
    yes it works
    yes olive oil
Olive oil and sweet oil are the same thing. Sweet oil is sold at the drug store as an ear ache remedy. I guess it works. It has been used for years.
wtf!! ....olive oil. dang thats messed up. q-tips work better.
Okay, if your ear stinks - its time to go to the doctor (unless it stinks because of the olive oil). If your ear hurts, and you can't go to the doctor, there's a couple of home remedies you can do. First, assume you have excess buildup of earwax. Get some ear candles - talk about FREAKY!!! but my kids just love them. At the same time you're getting the ear candles, get some mullein tincture (it will be sold in a little brown bottle and will contain mullein and probably olive or garlic oil. I know its yuck, but it works. hey - how bad does hurt? is it worth it?) After you complete the candle procedure, put a few drops of the oil, heated in your ear. It'll help. If it doesn't, go to the doctor. Seriously, you might have a problem that needs medical attention. Good luck sweety.
I use hydrogen peroxide. It feels funky cause you can feel the bubbles in your ear, but it breaks up the clog and you just tilt your head to dump any excess liquid
See an Ear Candling Expert.. she or he'll solve

the problem notice I said expert.. cause there are alot of Frauds. A Chiropractor usually knows of a Ear Candling Expert or a Herbolist

    that knows of one!
wtf!!!!! If my ears would stink I would go to the doctor.
Well, your mom is on the right track. It sounds like you may have a buildup of earwax. Warm mineral oil or even warm olive oil can help loosen everything up, and get your ear feeling better. Another thing you may want to try is Hydrogen Peroxide. It can help loosen the gunk, and help clean any sore that could be present. Good luck.
olive oil otherwise known as sweet oil except if you buy it as sweet oil its 40 bucks a gallon..lol just plain old extra virgin olive oil IS the same.. you can also use tea tree oil or just hydrogen peroxide.. just dip the q-tip in some of it and clean your ears with them...it kinda tickles though..
    olive oil for what?
I heard you can put it in your hair but never heard of it for ear. She trying to cook you?
yes this dose work. A nurse told my husband to use olive oil in his ear to remove whatever was in there. It sounds like you have an infection if your ear smells. See a doctor for antibiotics,
Only some unthinking person would use Q tips in their ears. This is one of the easiest ways to compact wax further into the ear canal. There is a product on the market just for softening the wax so it can be washed out... Olive oil is an old time remedy but very effective.
the hydrogen peroxide idea sounds cool. what about plain isopropyl alcohol? or heinz white vinegar? if Q tips do not go in the ear canal, well, where do they go?? oil sounds gross. how the heck would you clean that? when oil gets old it gets sticky and gross
yep it will work make sure it is a little warm not hot

  • ANYBODY KNOWS ABOUT OLIVE OIL?

i need the details about olive oil i heard it is very good for health than other oil so i am thinking to use for cooking i bought extra virgin olive oil i dont know how much i have to use daily ..suggests me some dishes to use olive oil.ANYBODY KNOWS ABOUT OLIVE OIL?
Just because its better for you than other oils, doesn't mean that's its actually good for you or that you should be using it every day! Its better than the cheap vegetable-soy type cooking oils which are simply artery clogging poisons. Use olive oil for all your cooking and salad needs and use half of what you normally would and you'll be just fine.ANYBODY KNOWS ABOUT OLIVE OIL?
olive oil its recommended as its helps to control everyones colesterol even if they don't have it will prevent from happening

the best one is from spain

i use olive oil in most of the cooking that requires some kind of fat to be added to it

for example i make very often green salad / lettuce with cuccumbers and add little bit of olive oil and vinegar and some salt/
extra virgin is best for salad dressings, drizzle on veg, etc. Frying with extra virgin is a waste and tastes odd, to me.

No matter what though, it is still a fat, same calories and fat grams as any other oil and must be used in moderation.
Olive oil is very healthy, you can use it in almost all dishes for salads, frying, or to drizzle on bread.

Can olive oil be a laxative like caster oil?

In addition to its culinary uses, olive oil has been used for centuries as a laxative (mild laxative properties, acting as a stool softener) and skin conditioner. Can olive oil be a laxative like caster oil?
Never heard of it, but I don't think it is likely. Olive oil is made for regular consumption and has a high fat content. So if you are taking it to stay slim, you'll counteract any result you get. If you want to stay regular, just get a real laxative. Or try prune juice.

    edit- after research

An old folklore says that olive oil was in fact used as a laxative.Take one tablespoonful of olive oil in the morning and one tablespoonful an hour after dinner.

Mineral oil is also a commonly used laxative. However, it has no nutritional value, and with prolonged use may deplete the intestines of the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as decrease the absorption of the valuable minerals calcium and phosphorus. A healthy alternative is flax oil, which not only has laxative properties, but is a valuable source of nutrition as well. Unlike mineral oil which slides through the intestines, possibly taking vitamins with it, flax oil is a nutrient that facilitates absorption of the above vitamins.

My baby has cradle cap and someone said use olive oil is it the kind you cook with?

Yes, just the kind you cook with. If you want something more medicinal seeming you can get some Sweet Oil from the health and beauty section. I usually find it with the ear syringes and swimmer's ear medicine. It's just pharmaceutical grade olive oil. We will also put a few warmed drops into the ear canal sooth ear aches. I found that the most effective way to get rid of cradle cap is to just gently scrape it off with your fingernail then in the bath gently scrub the scalp with with a soft-bristled baby brush.

Edit: My husband and my oldest kid are both sensitive to any product with any kind of petroleum based ingredient in it. So we use olive oil for lots of things around our house (especially since most things at the store have some type of petroleum-based ingredient in it). We use it as a moisturizer, a lip balm, to put on raw noses during a cold, for ear aches and anything else we can think of. We've used olive oil on my newborn as a lotion since he was born because we didn't want to take the chance of him being sensitive also.My baby has cradle cap and someone said use olive oil is it the kind you cook with?
Yes it is the kind you cook with. But why not use baby oil? That's what baby oil was made for; for babies tender skin... What if while she has the oil in her hair somehow it gets into her eyes or some insect likes the smell of olive oil and want to take a bite? Sorry if I alarmed you but this is a possibility....My baby has cradle cap and someone said use olive oil is it the kind you cook with?
Absolutely the same.It would not be neccessary to use the most expensive (called extra virgin) . many uses for anointing for health and for blessings and for exceptionally warm welcoming,as in reunion of familyare refered to in the Bible.. Regular baby oil is commonally used for cradle cap.
My doctor told me to use baby oil.
I would suggest going to walmart or local pharmacy and they make something for cradle cap. It is in with the shampoos for baby and powders, etc. My dtr had that and it is annoying. This really worked though. I want to say it is made by Johnson's. It comes in a green or teal color bottle, or at least it did when she was an infant.
don't use baby oil. use almond oil. way better than olive oil.
yes it is the one you cook with but it is very good for their skin and for their scalps. I used it on my son and it went away right away. you can also use baby oil. that works good also but not as good as the olive oil the best kind is extra virgin olive oil.
';For stubborn cases, some parents find an oil remedy helpful. (The oil helps to loosen dry flakes.) If you want to give it a try, rub just a small amount of a pure, natural oil 鈥?such as almond or olive oil 鈥?on your baby's scalp and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Then gently comb out the flakes with a fine-toothed comb or brush them out with a soft brush.

    Be sure to follow up by washing your baby's scalp with a gentle baby shampoo 鈥?the last thing you want to do is leave oil on his head, which could clog the pores and cause the flakes to stick. You might try leaving the shampoo on for a few minutes before rinsing, to help cut the oil. ';
Regular old olive oil... its also incredibly healthy for the skin, and even more so when ingested... but baby will smell funny afterwards... its kinda cute.

You don't have to buy any of the high end brands - just the cheap-o regular off the shelf store brand will work.

    Best wishes.

    -dh
yep same stuff rub it in and leave it overnight then shampoo out
yup the kind you cook with. I used a soft tooth brush to brush at the scalp to loosen it. I hope that helps. I used to try brushing it with a little oil with each bath.
Yes, warm it up slightly to a bit warmer than body temperature and put it on the scalp. Wait a couple of hours then just gently comb it out with a baby comb.
yes it is, or use baby oil
My baby had cradle cap. His pediatrician suggested baby oil. Olive oil is for cooking.
    yep

Olive oil works well. So does almond oil.
Yes, it is. You can also use the millions of bottles of baby oil you got at your showers. Someone gave me a bottle of gel baby oil, which was fantastic for this purpose because it doesn't run down your baby's face.

    Best wishes...

Is it true that if you mix olive and caster oil together and put it in your hair, it will darken the color?Caster oil and Olive oil?
NO!!!! Castor oil is good for moisturizing your hair , as is olive oil. It will not alter the color of your hair at all.Caster oil and Olive oil?
Nope, but they're both good moisturizers for the scalp as mentioned above... And castor oil will also help thicken the hair i've read.

After pouring Olive Oil in hair for an hour...?

and its time to rinse it out can I shampoo it to and condition or only condition or only shampoo or neither and just rinse lol plz reply soon i would like to rinse it out like nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwAfter pouring Olive Oil in hair for an hour...?
i would shampoo and lightly conditioner it, olive oil makes your hair look very very greasy so shampoo it good, and maybe conditioner itt =]After pouring Olive Oil in hair for an hour...?
shampoo your hair, cos it'll go greasy
I was taught by a Greek woman that you only have to put a small drop of olive oil in the palm of your hand and rub you hands together. You then run your hands through your hair thoroughly and then style it like you would normally. You do this every day and your hair will always look nice.
You will always wash and condition your hair after a hot oil treatment to open the pours. Shampoo you hair with warm water, and condition and wash out with cold water to conceal moisture
Okay now what you have to do is shampoo your hair like you normally would. Then comb throughly to remove any dread strands of hair. Then allow your hair to dry naturally.
You can do both. Shampoo to remove the oil and condition if it feels like it needs it.
if your hair is really dry shampoo and condition if it is so-so just shampoo happy new year! :)

    Hairloss and olive oil?

I have been loosing hair like crazy.....I also have an oily scalp and dandruff (a little) I heard somewhere that it is good to massage your hair with olive oil and then wash...I have two questions...can I use regulat cooking olive oil (the kind u get from the grocery store) and will it affect my hair color...I have highlighted hair?? Thank you!Hairloss and olive oil?
I don't know if it will effect your hair loss. But olive oil is a major component of an oil I use to treat dry winter skin, and it doesn't effect my hair color.

I can't really think of why you can't use the same olive oil that you do for cooking. In a very interesting essay I read about making soaps, it was mentioned that olive oil is used in making Castille soap- which is a very fine grade of soap indeed.

    LDS and Olive Oil?

I have asked several people and have gotten blank stares. I was wondering if it matters what type of olive oil is used in blessings?LDS and Olive Oil?
I believe that it does matter, if you are able to get it. It is supposed to be extra virgin olive oil, because that is the pure stuff. It also has to be blessed, because that it was makes it sacred. I am sure that if you didn't have access to extra virgin, that's fine, but I think you are supposed to get that if you can. The blessing is what matters though.

The Separation oleic acid from olive oil by double fractionation.how to explane this?

I don't know the details of this particular process but when separating out a middle boiling point component of a mixture by distillation it is necessary to separate out the heavy and lighter boiling point components in two stages of distillation. Does the oleic acid have to have water stripped from it? (If so this might account for the second distillation)

  • Frying with olive oil?

I always take care of myself regarding what I eat, trying to get as many healthy food as possible, so I always use olive oil for salads, when making spaghetti's or pasta, and when I want to fry something. Recently, a friend told me that she watched on TV that, when you use olive oil for frying, it does a lot of damage to the body. Is that true?Frying with olive oil?
Olive oil will smoke at a lower temperature than other oils. Do NOT use extra-virgin olive oil, because it smokes even lower (and is too expensive to waste on frying); but you could use light olive oil. That's for light frying in a pan; don't use any olive oil in a deep fryer thoughFrying with olive oil?
I have heard that is true, (that Olive Oil is damaging once heated).

I no longer fry with it, but I use Spectrum Oil, ';Refined, for high heat';. They have many oils, for all different temperatures.

If you visit the Spectrum Oil site, you can learn more about it. I usually buy it in the Natural Foods Section, or Health Food Store.
some doctors say that olive oil is healthy for the body, but i am not sure if that's true, olive oil is just extra substance, if you eat salads, i would put other dressings, and Cut off the Olive Oil.

for frying use regular olive oil not extra virgin olive oil. Extra virgin olive oil is healthier and best used raw on salads as a dressing or drizzled on steamed veg etc. Normal olive oil can be used for cooking and frying etc.
No, it's not a good idea. Use olive oil in your salad dressings. Olive oil doesn't have a high smoking point %26amp; that is bad for frying. Olive oil is a healthy oil but not for frying.
Olive oil is way too good quality of an oil to waste frying - use canola oil for frying...
