Yes, just the kind you cook with. If you want something more medicinal seeming you can get some Sweet Oil from the health and beauty section. I usually find it with the ear syringes and swimmer's ear medicine. It's just pharmaceutical grade olive oil. We will also put a few warmed drops into the ear canal sooth ear aches. I found that the most effective way to get rid of cradle cap is to just gently scrape it off with your fingernail then in the bath gently scrub the scalp with with a soft-bristled baby brush.





Edit: My husband and my oldest kid are both sensitive to any product with any kind of petroleum based ingredient in it. So we use olive oil for lots of things around our house (especially since most things at the store have some type of petroleum-based ingredient in it). We use it as a moisturizer, a lip balm, to put on raw noses during a cold, for ear aches and anything else we can think of. Yes it is the kind you cook with. But why not use baby oil? That's what baby oil was made for; for babies tender skin... What if while she has the oil in her hair somehow it gets into her eyes or some insect likes the smell of olive oil and want to take a bite? Absolutely the same.It would not be neccessary to use the most expensive (called extra virgin) . many uses for anointing for health and for blessings and for exceptionally warm welcoming,as in reunion of familyare refered to in the Bible.. Regular baby oil is commonally used for cradle cap.

I would suggest going to walmart or local pharmacy and they make something for cradle cap. It is in with the shampoos for baby and powders, etc. My dtr had that and it is annoying. This really worked though. I want to say it is made by Johnson's. It comes in a green or teal color bottle, or at least it did when she was an infant.
don't use baby oil. use almond oil. way better than olive oil.
yes it is the one you cook with but it is very good for their skin and for their scalps. I used it on my son and it went away right away. you can also use baby oil. that works good also but not as good as the olive oil the best kind is extra virgin olive oil.

If you want to give it a try, rub just a small amount of a pure, natural oil 鈥?such as almond or olive oil 鈥?on your baby's scalp and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Be sure to follow up by washing your baby's scalp with a gentle baby shampoo 鈥?the last thing you want to do is leave oil on his head, which could clog the pores and cause the flakes to stick. You might try leaving the shampoo on for a few minutes before rinsing, to help cut the oil. ';
Regular old olive oil... its also incredibly healthy for the skin, and even more so when ingested... but baby will smell funny afterwards... its kinda cute.





You don't have to buy any of the high end brands - just the cheap-o regular off the shelf store brand will work.

yep same stuff rub it in and leave it overnight then shampoo out
yup the kind you cook with. I used a soft tooth brush to brush at the scalp to loosen it. I hope that helps. I used to try brushing it with a little oil with each bath.
Yes, warm it up slightly to a bit warmer than body temperature and put it on the scalp. Wait a couple of hours then just gently comb it out with a baby comb.

Yes, it is. You can also use the millions of bottles of baby oil you got at your showers. Someone gave me a bottle of gel baby oil, which was fantastic for this purpose because it doesn't run down your baby's face.
